Ready To Burn

The Government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has appointed HETAS and Woodsure to run the Ready to Burn fuel certification scheme.

Since 2020, the new regulations now apply in England, meaning that wood fuel sold in volumes under 2m3 must be certified as Ready to Burn.

Firewood producers, such as ourselves are inspected to verify that the firewood that we sell has a moisture content of less than 20%. Samples are sent for testing in a Lab to verify the moisture content.

We aim to dry our kiln died hardwood logs and kindling to between 10 and 15% moisture content, significantly lower than the regulations state.

We are pleased with the results of our Lab tested firewood samples, which produced moisture reading far less that the regulations required and even lower that our own moisture content target.
